European Leaders Condemn US Action as ‘Coercion’

European leaders such as Emmanuel Macron accused Washington of “bullying and threats”, after the visa restrictions targeted figures who have been at the heart of campaigns to enact laws regulating American tech companies.

“For far too long, European activists have spearheaded organised efforts to pressure American platforms to suppress US perspectives they disagree with,” wrote the US secretary of state in a social media post. “The current administration will no longer tolerate such actions of extraterritorial censorship.”
