AC Shadows Introduces Unexpected AoT Event for Holiday Season
In a unexpected partnership that defies conventional forecasts, Ubisoft has unveiled an digital partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising Thanksgiving event continues from November 25 through December 22, including no-cost bonus story content for Shadows players.
Mysterious Mission Uncovered
According to the official release, "An unusual confrontation draws heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a original adventure, where hints of banned practices and fearsome transformations resonate through the shadows." The storyline features a "strangely attired woman named Ada" who tasks the characters with traveling into the Gemstone Grotto—a key location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her ally from a hidden cult.
The questline focuses on "peculiar tests and a fearsome adversary" and is accessible to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.
Familiar Locations and Metamorphoses
The preview showcases the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This important location was earlier where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The trailer finishes with a dramatic scene showing a character, presumably the hostage, changing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.
Special Rewards and Bonus Features
Players who finish the adventure will receive an exclusive katana together with multiple objects secreted throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also features in-store Attack on Titan item packs, including:
- Titan-inspired outfit for Yasuke
- Mikasa attire for Naoe
- Exclusive implements
- Survey Corps mount
Latest Free Story Addition
This patch also brings the game's latest free story content, titled "The Mystery." This lighthearted quest teams Naoe and Yasuke as they swap distinctive techniques: Naoe introduces a theatrical interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-lethal stealth takedowns. True to its name, "The Mystery" also includes a original environmental puzzle that may ultimately shed light on some lingering questions from the main storyline.
